Boston Portuguese Festival – City Hall Plaza with President of Portugal
June 10 • 2:00 pm-7:00 pm
AMHS will be a part of this festival in Boston’s City Plaza, which will celebrate the Day of Portugal, Camões, and the Portuguese Communities. Diverse activities will include the visit of the Portuguese Navy’s NRG Sagres, a Lusitano horse demonstration, cultural entertainment, children’s activities, Portuguese cuisine, wine tastings, food vendors, and traditional folk dancing. There will also be special musical performances by Portuguese-American singer Jorge Ferreira, Franco-Portuguese singer Chris Ribeiro, and many local artists.
The celebration will bring together local Portuguese-American businesses and organizations, cultural associations, recreational groups, schools and community members, and will also include the traditional flag-raising ceremony, which honors the contributions of Portuguese-Americans to the City of Boston and across the Commonwealth.
The highlight of the festival will be a visit from Portugal’s President, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, Prime-Minister António Costa, and Vasco Cordeiro, President of the Regional Government of the Azores.
